With Ironman Wisconsin 2007 fast approaching, we figured it was time to profile the men of TEAM STL and the lovely ladies who have supported them throughout this journey. Completing Ironman is only worthwhile if you have friends and family to hold you up when you cross the finish line. Who says that triathlon is not a team sport??? Without the support of all of our wives, none of this would be possible.

IM MOO BABY!
ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.

The Wives

The Boys

Suzy StrassnerSuzy Strassner
Nicknamed "The General" by the boys on TEAM STL, this teacher and mother of two never allowed her spinning schedule to get interrupted by IM training. She ruled John with an iron fist. Gentle and loving but extremely serious about timeliness and family values - she made sure that a balance was kept.
John StrassnerJohn Strassner
The hammer and true leader - John kept TEAM STL together through the good times and the bad with his web site. We expect a strong finish out of him in Madison if he can put his neurotic behavior on hold for 14 hours. Ironman should be a breeze compared to dealing with nine months of training AND Suzy.
Marianne RosenthalMarianne Rosenthal
The Nia Instructor - This chick got very stressed out at the initial meeting but was able to keep everything together through the employment of a series of baby sitters. Her relationship with Tommy thrived on the fact that he kept her in the dark about the majority of his training - she was oblivious.
Tommy RosenthalTommy Rosenthal
This retired loan officer put his career and family on hiatus for nine months and focused completely on his training - nothing kept him from working out. It paid dividends though as he put together his most successful season of his young career. He probably will NOT finish IM but he will have the best gear possible.
Julie PepperJulie Pepper
Dubbed "The Therapist", Julie is quite a strong compeitor in her own right. She kept everyone in check throughout and to date has not been wrong about anything. She did throw a tantrum in Colorado and there was a yogurt incident in Branson but other than that she has been solid!!! Look for a strong performance out of her next summer when she does her first Half Ironman while Mike takes the summer off to be with Elizabeth. This woman is never wrong!
Mike PepperMike Pepper
This triple keystoning retailer can shop with the best of them. His ability to analyze the carb to protein ratio of every energy drink in the market is uncanny. He is in great shape going into IM and will perform well if he can overcome open water swim concerns. His explosive power promises not to disappoint the talent rich field at Madison. He can certainly emerge victorious as long as he does not have to stop to fix any teammate's flat tires.
Kim NodaKim Noda
This mother of three was quoted as saying "Seiichi's residency was much easier than all of this training." A true trooper (and trophy wife), Kim was often informed of Seiichi's absenses EXPO FACTO. She held the entire Noda clan together while the Dad/Doctor trained at all hours of the day. If this was tough on her you would not know it as she was always calm, cool and collected.
Seiichi NodaSeiichi Noda
This heart surgeon turned triatlete has been compared to Lance Armstrong due to his relentless training regimine. His signature aggressive approach toward "napping" should increase his chances of obtaining a Kona spot. What he lacks in ability he makes up for with superior gear. His constant countdown (16 days to Ironman BABY!!!) kept all of us moving forward throughout.
Nancy CraggNancy Cragg
This "New Mom" successfully rained in her hubby when she saw that he was overtraining. Never mind that Bill was only working out once a week when she brought this up. A big time marathon runner, Nancy altered Bill's training schedule once Kaitlyn arrived so that she could begin mounting her own "comeback." Don't count her out for future marathons just quite yet as she has the ability to get in top shape quickly. She is a much better athlete than Bill.
Bill CraggBill Cragg
Back pain sullied this Doc's training regiment. His sole focus on biking (he rarely swims and never runs) is an interesting approach that might end up serving him well. Daily massages and extensive ART treatments should have him in good enough shape to cross the line in Madison. His ability to change a flat is superior to his ability to book hotel reservations - a travel agent he is not. This good doctor personifies "Seldom Right - Never In Doubt."
